LNG
Liquefied Natural Gas

LNG is natural gas (methane) chilled to -161ºC so that it becomes a liquid.

Once it has been liquefied, the methane takes up much less space.

Because LNG occupies about 1/600 the space of methane in its gaseous form it can be exported in purpose-built tanker ships.
